Dawnelle was raised in Northern Virginia and graduated from George Mason University with degrees in Sociology and Civil Engineering. After working several years as an engineer, she decided to pursue a career in dentistry and attended dental school at UCLA. Dawnelle was raised in Northern Virginia and graduated from George Mason University with degrees in Sociology and Civil Engineering. After working several years as an engineer, she decided to pursue a career in dentistry and attended dental school at UCLA. Following graduation, she continued her training at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Hospital as a General Practice Resident.
Growing up, she was a competitive figure skater and she enjoys running, cycling, and spending time with her husband and three children.

She has been in private practice ever since. She is married and has three adult children. Her hobbies include cooking and baking, yoga, and walking with her neighbors and spending time with family. She is involved with the Japanese American community and the H.E.L.P. organization (Healthcare and Elder Law Program) in Torrance, CA.
